Sponsor a Child and help him or her live a better life through education.

This program was created by GuatemalaReservations.com in conjunction with “Ninos con Bendicion,” a program located in San Antonio Aguas Calientes, a town about 20 minutes from Antigua http://www.folkloricoguatemalteco.com/

“Ninos con Bendicion” is a grassroots dance group made up of ten children ages 6-10 years old who come from some of the poorest families in the village. As their culture is based on corn, the children present a few short, local, Maya dances involving the crop planting, blessing, and corn harvest. Visitors are asked for a small admission fee to watch the dance performance in an intimate setting. The purpose of the dance presentation is for the children to generate funds needed to go to and stay in school. Larger donations for watching the performance are gratefully accepted.

"Ninos con Bendicion" is also seeking sponsors who would like to sponsor a child in the group so that she or he can go to school. The cost per child for enrollment, monthly school fees, uniforms, and all supplies is currently $300 USD annually (subject to changes in the school fee and the currency exchange rate). This fee also includes one hot meal (lunch) and a place for the children to study and do homework after school.

The program is seeking sponsors who can sponsor a child on an annual basis, ideally for the duration of the child's education through the age of 16. As more children are sponsored, they can leave the dance group and make room for new younger children from the community to join, reinforce their culture through dance and be eligible for sponsorship.

Individuals and groups can join together to sponsor a child. Photos, a brief social history, and reports of school progress will be sent to the sponsor(s). There is also an opportunity to send letters and have a “pen pal,” if desired. The children speak and write in Spanish!
